Where the sea meets the land – photos by Gabi Reichert
I am fascinated by the diversity and constant change of coastlines aroud the world. In the north of Norway and especially in Lofoten and Vesterålen, Norway one can find the most magnificent, wild and solitary beaches in Europe. I love to work very close to the water. Quite often my feet were wet, and I would still be taking photos and working on them well into the morning.
It didn’t really matter what time of year it was. During summer, midnightsun illuminates the incredibly beautiful scenery in a magical, never-ending sunset, and when winter is coming, the awe-inspiring aurora borealis will perform absolutely stunning all-night shows for the few who dare to be outside on a cold december night.
As a photographer, I’m overwhelmed by the sheer amount of beauty; I don’t know where to look, which photo to take first and least of all, when to stop and rest. Whereever I gaze, I’m surrounded by a miraculous wonderland, which evokes a tremendous, enthiusiastic happiness in me.
I try to capture this happiness that I feel, condense the essence of it into an image and transport this feeling to you, the viewer of the photo!
Enjoy.
Here’s a multimedia show with some more photos including the aurora borealis.
